Early Dismissal
Our girl’s volleyball team plays in its first ever District semi-final game this Monday, November 2nd. The game will be held at Rocky Mountain Hebrew Academy at 4:00 p.m. The team will leave at 2:15 pm. and we will dismiss school at 3:00 to allow fans to travel to the game.
RMLHS Federation Meeting
Please come to a special meeting of the RMLHS Federation on Sunday, November 8, at 3:00p.m. held at the RMLHS facility on 117th and Irma St. Arrangements are being made for a special dinner to follow; we hope you can come.
The purpose of that meeting is twofold:
1. To look together at the future of the school, including physical location, in light of current demographics, financial trends, and opinions of the Federation congregations;
2. To grow in unity of purpose and support of the gospel ministry we have undertaken through the high school.
Please invite a spouse or friend to join you for this meeting! Let us know, too, if you’ll be able to stay for our light dinner following the meeting. (The meeting is planned for 3:00-4:30.) Please RSVP to kpoetter@rmlhs.org by the early part of next week.
Sports Update
Congratulations to our volleyball team on their big win Tuesday night over Shining Mountain. They have advanced to the district semi-finals for the first time in our school’s history. Because of the snowstorm, the league postponed the (Thursday 10/29) volleyball district semi-final and final matches to next Monday (November 2) . The Monday matches will still be played at Herzl/RMHA. Our team will leave school at 2:15 and school will dismiss at 3:00 to allow fans to travel to the game. Our first match will be played at 4:00 vs Denver Waldorf. If we win, we will play in the district finals game at 7:00. Let’s go EAGLES!
In football news- Our crossover playoff game with Caliche will be played at their field because of all the snow on the ground here in the metro area, the availablility and playability of the field in Caliche, and CHSAA’s directive to get our game played by Saturday. Caliche High School is located about 20 miles beyond Sterling on I-76. We are waiting on directions from their athletic director and will post them to the website when we receive them. The school address is 26308 County Rd. 65, Iliff, CO 80736. The game will be played at 1:00. The team will leave from school at 9:20. We are disappointed to have to travel there for a game that was supposed to be home for us, but the weather circumstances and the need to get this game played by Saturday have made it necessary. We hope you can come out and cheer on your EAGLES!
National Honor Society Service Project
The Rocky Mountain Lutheran High School Chapter of the National Honor Society is planning a service project this fall. Our chapter was invited by Leslie Holmes to help about 20 underprivileged families move into a new apartment complex in Denver at 16th and Colorado on Sunday, 1 November 2009. This project will be a great opportunity for our NHS members to serve their Lord and their community.
School Picture Retakes
It’s almost time for student picture retakes. On Wednesday, November 4, the cameras will be here again for retakes. If you didn’t get to order pictures the first time, you can order them on Nov. 4th as well. Please, ask your child for the fliers.
“Special Thanks”
We would like to share with you the following excerpt of an unsolicited comment from one of our home game Volleyball Officials. This type of comment reminds us how important a Christian education is to our students and those that interact with our students on a regular basis.
.
“I must also tell you i was quite impressed with everything about Rocky Mtn Lutheran. From the Athletic Director down to the coaches, table personell, students and the fans you have a unique learning community environment going on there and given the number of schools I am in each year officiating…you are right there with the BEST of the BEST! Thanks again.”
RMLHS Football 2009: Playing for Conference Champion
This Saturday, October 17 at 1:00 the RMLHS football team plays Justice High School at Boulder High School’s football field (directions). Both teams are undefeated in conference play, so this game will determine the conference champion and seeding for the state playoff qualifying round. If you have the opportunity to come on Saturday to cheer us on, it would be great! Hope to see you there!
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be Wednesday, October 21 from 6pm-9pm and Friday 23 from 8am-12pm. These conferences allow the chance for parents and teachers to have face-to-face disscusions about the progress of their children. These meetings are very beneficial, so please plan on attending one of the two time slots.
